PHNOM PENH, March 4, 2025 - Cambodia Development Resource Institute (CDRI) has successfully organised the Cambodia Outlook Conference 2025 under the theme “Cambodia's New Growth Strategy: Priorities for High Quality and Sustainable Development.”
The conference was held under the high presidency of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN MANET Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia. It brought together over 600 policymakers, development partners, and international organisations to assess Cambodia's economic performance, identify priority areas for reform, and discuss strategies to ensure long-term sustainable development amid global uncertainties.
Samdech Borvor Thipadei, the Prime Minister, has recommended that CDRI continue to strengthen its capacity. Samdech Thipadei emphasised that CDRI should enhance cooperation with regional research institutions, increase dialogue on Cambodia's socio-economic development, and provide constructive feedback and improvements. Additionally, CDRI should continue to serve as a data collection centre and publish both quantitative and qualitative research papers to further promote research that utilises primary data through data collection and surveys. The accuracy and consistency of primary data, or microdata, are crucial for effective policy formulation and for ensuring that policy measures are targeted and responsive to actual needs.
Dr Eng Netra, Executive Director of CDRI, presented key summaries from the conference discussions, highlighting emerging economic opportunities and pressing challenges. In his closing remarks, HE Dr Aun Pornmoniroth, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, reaffirmed the Royal Government of Cambodia's commitment to achieving long-term development goals, as outlined in the Pentagonal Strategy. He stressed the importance of effective policies, research-driven insights, and new growth strategies to ensure the vision is resilient, sustainable, and environmentally sound.
The Cambodia Outlook Conference continues to serve as a vital platform for dialogue and collaboration, contributing to the effective formulation and implementation of national development policies.
This year, CDRI is delighted to have Australia through Cambodia Australia Partnership for Resilient Economic Development (CAPRED) as our exclusive partner. CAPRED aims to support Cambodia to achieve resilient, inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
